The end of this year is around the corner, and we've had TONS of new music this year! What were some of the best albums and songs released this year? Which ones are still on replay for you? Share your thoughts!

Let me begin by saying that many artists I've followed for a long time released music this year, and several were underwhelming in my opinion. Others, very overrated due to their TikTok/social media popularity/virality (rather than actual quality), but despite all that, I was able to grab a top 10 list that ultimately wasn't that much in the spotlight. Here's mine!

  1. AURORA - What Happened to the Heart?
  2. Hayley Mary - XS
  3. Florrie - The Lost Ones
  4. Kylie Minogue - Tension II
  5. Paloma Faith - The Glorification of Sadness
  6. Bonnie McKee - Hot City
  7. Bastille - &
  8. David Kushner - The Dichotomy
  9. Kerli - OVERSOUL
  10. Dua Lipa - Radical Optimism

Yup, I was expecting to have Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Brooke Candy, Katy Perry, and Charli XCX the most of all, on this list, but honestly their albums this year were not enough to make it.

Ultimately, it's not all so bad. With Bonnie McKee giving us THE maximalist bright pop record after a decade, Florrie delivering us a brilliant full studio album after several delays, and AURORA with her most sublime album to date (+ I went to see her live this year and it was the best night of this year!), I'm happy to close this year with some pop bibles that will definitely become classics.

I've probably listened to about over 160 projects this year, eps included lol. I still have some stuff I'm yet to check out :cackle:

Whoa, that's a very extensive list! Tbh this year I was in a very throwback mode and aside from my top 10 and a couple other projects, I was revisiting older releases instead. But omg it must've been hard to narrow +100 projects to this!

Like @Ice Prince, I feel like I was mostly listening to older stuff! I don't even think I listened to ten albums released this year :stretcher: But of the ones I did, here's my list!

yeah I've listened to ALOT of music this year aside from this year's releases. I got into Bladee this year and deadmau5 and Julia Holter etc etc

I listened to a lot of older music this year as well, along with unreleased and AI generated so, I definitely didn't listen to 10 newly released albums this year. But, according to Apple Music my most listened to albums this year were: 

  1. Higher Than Heaven (Deluxe) - Ellie Goulding 
  2. To, X. (The 5th Mini Album) - TAEYEON 
  3. eternal sunshine (slightly deluxe) - Ariana Grande 
  4. Red (Taylor's Version) - Taylor Swift 
  5. Why (The 2nd Mini Album) - TAEYEON 
  6. Brat and it's completely different but also still brat - Charli XCX
  7. Hot City - Bonnie McKee 
  8. Chromatica - Lady Gaga
  9. Confident (Deluxe) - Demi Lovato 
  10. ME - Single - JISOO

In the past 2 months I found the musical output to be particularly weak, I did not find many new songs which I LOVED, just some I liked. And lately the best songs I discoverred were made by AI. But this song stands out to me this year, I really like it.

Cool, here I am once again but I think I finally settled down for a top 15 albums released this year. I had the chance to listen to a few more and I'm really happy with some of these releases!

Can't wait for whatever 2025 has in store for us. FKA twigs, Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga... it's gonna be an interesting year I just know it!
