Jennifer Lopez – Rebirth (2005)

JenniferLopez-05Rebirth.jpg

Rebirth was not a struggling album; however, its single selections and overall promotion left much to be desired by the general public and by her fans, alike. I would simply have changed the singles from the album, as the track listing was a consistent flow from beginning to end.

Singles

  1. November 2004: Get Right
  2. March 2005: Step into My World
  3. July 2005: Cherry Pie
  4. October 2005: Whatever You Wanna Do
  5. February 2006: Ryde or Die

Stars Dance by Selena Gomez (2013)

13DMGIM03981.rgb.jpg

Tracklist

Spoiler

1. Birthday
2. B.E.A.T.
3. Bang
4. Write Your Name
5. Come & Get It
6. Stars Dance
7. Forget Forever
8. Save The Day
9. Like A Champion
10. Slow Down
11. Undercover
12. Music Feels Better
13. Nobody Does It Like You
14. Sad Serenade
15. Love Will Remember

I've been getting into Selena recently since listening to Revival (which also needs a re-arrange, my friend did a really good one!), and from all the albums by Selena I've listened to so far, this one is my favourite! Given Skrillex was cited as an influence, which drew me to the album to start with, I sort of did expect a bit more considering how hard Skrillex's music used to go back in the day. But that aside, I think the album has it's unique charm to the edm pop era of music in the 2010s.

The album is filled with bops back to front, my personal favourites being B.E.A.T, Undercover (the production budget was HIGH), Music Feels Better and Nobody Does It Like You.

The only issue I found with this album was the 0 consistency, so I tried to fix that with re-arranging the tracklist and adding unreleased songs from around the era to fill in the blanks. Sad Serenade not even being a bonus track was ROBBED. I was going to add Slow Down B Sides but didn't as I didn't want to overdo the tracklist.

My re-arrange isn't perfect but I find some of this does run better than Selena's in some ways.

@Crystal <3 ive always wanted to rearrange Stars Dance cos some of it does feel out of place in running order and them NOT including Sad Serenade was one of the biggest missteps in her career. other than that i havent really listened to any of the leaks besides that one tbh, i have the demo versions of Forget Forever and Love will Remember too but thats it lol

i have the Target edition of the album that has the two Slow Down b-sides at the end and i think theyre both good songs but i really wouldnt know where to place them otherwise so i end up leaving them off the list lol

and i agree with revival, its kinda bloated and needs a fine tuning lol

i usually keep my Revival list with
1. Revival
2. Sober
3. Me & My Girls
4. Me & the Rhythm
5. Outta My Hands (sometimes ill move  this to track three between Sober and M&MG)
tracks 7-11 are kinda interchangeable at some points lol
12. Survivors
13. Rise

Kill em With Kindness is just ugly and Camouflage and Cologne never stood out to me in any good way so those three are always left out of my rearrangements. edit - oh and i usually use the solo version of Good for You if at all, im not a fan of features in general. even less so when the rap feature in a pop song feels off or out of place like it doesnt belong in the song

  1. Black Mascara
  2. C'est La Vie
  3. Mercy
  4. Born Again

  12. One Last Ride
  13. Call on Me
    Deluxe Edition
  14. No Man
  15. Ego
  16. When You Say it Like That

more or less a concrete order, but definitely this set of songs as of right now. i need to go through everything again and compile an album per ever 2 and a half years since the 2014 EP Welcome to the Winter to get a better concrete list.

Alice Chater - City of Angels (2025)

alice-chater-city-of-angels-v1-moonchild.png

This is more a proposed concept for her yet-untitled upcoming album, which hasn't been properly announced yet - but several tracks leaked recently and the body of work is pretty much there! So I gave it a shot. Also, I did that artwork considering "City of Angels" as the title track but it's not an official album title.

The sound is amazing, it has a lot of synthpop going on and I think it's a pretty solid record overall. I wonder, however, what would be the subsequent follow-up singles, considering that many other possibilities are there ("Dandelion", "Fantasy", "Baby in the Corner", "She's a Maniac", "The Death of Me", "Lonewolf"). So I also made a planned follow-up rollout with a few extra singles after "Bed of Lies".

Tracklist:

  1. Lonewolf
  2. Don't Let My Boyfriend Get in Your Way
  3. Sweet
  4. Bed of Lies
  5. City of Angels
  6. Dandelion
  7. The Death of Me
  8. Fantasy
  9. Baby in the Corner
  10. She's a Maniac
  11. Prima Ballerina
  12. Dance the Night Away
  13. Come Alive Deluxe version bonus track
  14. Euphoria Deluxe version bonus track
  15. Twin Flame Deluxe version bonus track
  16. If I Could Deluxe version bonus track

Singles:

  1. "Don't Let My Boyfriend Get in Your Way"
  2. "Come Alive"
  3. "Bed of Lies"
  4. "Baby in the Corner"
  5. "Dandelion"
  6. "Lonewolf"
  7. "The Death of Me" (promotional, instant grat on release week)

I re-edited this because some time has passed and my feelings towards the actually released singles and some of the tracks I included have changed. I cut four tracks ("How I Walk", "C U Next Tuesday", "Magic" and "Not Coming Back") and re-did the singles list.

Now it's a pretty much skipless album, very concise and it's bop after bop after bop so it would be nice to have something like this as her debut album this year :bop: particularly, the tracks run 4-10 is unstoppable, but overall it's pretty solid imo.

this is cute! Kill Em With Kindness is kinda dry but those lyrics are CRINGGEEEE, Cologne is cute but i'd keep it as a bonus track and im also not the most moved by asap's guest feature on good for you, being a fan of asap myself he dropped some of the best music in 2015 and i hate to say that didn't match up to that standard. Also camouflage was a very obvious missed closer opportunity tbh. My friend's re-arrange goes something like this

Spoiler

1. Revival
2. Good For You (feat. A$AP Rocky)
3. Hands To Myself
4. Me & The Rythm
5. Great Escape
6. Me & My Girls
7. Body Heat
8. Same Old Love (feat. Rihanna) (he did a mashup of Rihanna's demo, plus liked the idea of having asap and rihanna on the same album, imo these features are optional)
9. The Heart Wants What It Wants (surprisingly works?)
10. Kill Em With Kindness (he HATES this song but only keeps it on the album bc it was a hit)
11. Perfect
12. Sober
13. Nobody
14. Camouflage
15. Outta My Hands (Bonus Track)
16. Cologne (Bonus Track)

I'm looking to do my own re-arrange and possibly remove kill em with kindness. I defo think revival feels more commercial than it does consistent in a way. It could have had a solid sound palette and a good album to attach selena to that maturer image she aimed for, or at least tried to anyway, which could have been done by cutting some of the filler and trying to make songs that were more on par with the title track, same old love, me & the rythm, etc. I don't hate survivors but i find it painfully dated alongside other album tracks.

breifly off topic at some point i want to re-arrange rare. I didn't hate it nor dislike the order but it could have had some brushing up but as an album it feels so fucking bland i hate to say it. look at her now is a bop tho

im thinking that i feel weird in some way for having a 15 track album Sirens and compiling another 12 track album Young Like Me using songs from outside Sirens. id rather keep YLM and FTE the same and change Sirens into an EP like the other two (though FTE is 10 tracks ill consider that as an album)

4. Be The One
5. Bad Together
6. Blow Your Mind (Mwah)
7. Last Dance

10. Thinking 'Bout You

I recently relistened to this earlier today, some pretty nice stuff. I remember getting the standard edition on cd for my 12th birthday so this was my first time listening to the bonus tracks too! Also read up on the original concepts and unreleased from this era as well out of curiosity. So I may actually explore more of her discography!

I Said I Love You First by Selena Gomez (2025)

244-FD082-E84-F-47-F3-A743-DACD0310480-B

(cover by angyl)

Tracklist

Spoiler

1. I Said I Love You First
2. Younger And Hotter Than Me
3. Call Me When You Break Up (feat. Gracie Abrams)
4. Ojos Tristes (feat. The Marías)
5. Don't Wanna Cry
6. Love On
7. Sunset Blvd
8. Cowboy
9. Bluest Flame
10. Do You Wanna Feel Perfect
11. Talk
12. How Does It Feel To Be Forgotten
13. You Said You Were Sorry
14. Scared Of Loving You
15. Don't Take It Personally

I wasn't expecting to like this album as much as I did. I find it Selena's most cohesive project to date, weirdly enough, and therefore it doesn't really need a re-arrange, but Talk was ROBBED from the standard and I think Love On fits this album so well instead of Can't Get Enough, which I understand why it was on the album but overall it just doesn't work. But yeah, overall a really enjoyable album. Bluest Flame is such a gag.

Phoenix by Rita Ora (2017)

2. Let You Love Me
3. New Look
4. Your Song
5. Only Want You
6. Goldfinger
7. Falling To Pieces
8. First Time High
9. Girls (feat. Charli XCX, Bebe Rexha & RAYE)
10. Keep Talking (feat. Julia Michaels)
11. Cashmere
12. Velvet Rope
13. Hell Of A Life
14. Soul Survivor (iTunes Bonus Track)
15. Proud (Japanese Bonus Track)

Brought to you by my current thrive for late 2010s nostalgia and the music I used to listen to. Finally securing time to hear this project in full, I've fully come to realise and ask if it was hard to tell if this era was a dream come true or a total nightmare for Rita Ora stans. I was really here for her at the start of this era, especially Girls (Rita if you see this PLEASE BE A LESBIAN AGAIN) and Anywhere. What could have been a solid yet prolonged follow up album, we got served what feels a more commercial than consistent record. My first rhetorical question therefore poses as stupid: It was one HELL of an era. So I wanna redo the single rollout too!

Singles

Spoiler

1. Anywhere (July 2017)
2. Let You Love Me (August 2017)
3. Your Song (September 2017, Album announcement)
4. Girls (January 2018, post album release which would be December 2017)
5. Only Want You (April 2018, Final promotional single)

@Ice Prince's tracklist from 2022 is very very similiar to mine, I just did my edits around the back half of the album bc I'm the biggest Girls stan to exist. However Cardi's verse is rather annoying, and RAYE was totally robbed. Aside from the promotional era and tracklisting, picking Cardi over RAYE was one of the worst choices.
