Which version of S.L.A.Y are you all using?

I'm using the 2020 version. It sounds the most complete production-wise, that bass goes OFF in the car. I'm not really a big fan of the "this is our universe/feeling flier than fireworks" line either and much prefer "bright as gold," but I personally prefer production > melody > lyrics, so I can overlook that.

I've noticed that the volume is really low on the final versions too. It's kind of annoying. I also tampered with them a bit and adjusted the volume (and bass/treble levels on a few) and now they sound much better, but I wonder why they're so quiet in the first place?

Probably they are properly mixed BUT needed a very little mastering? Like, they sound very close to how they would sound if released but it's evident they still needed to adjust volume. Probably they were about to be finished and ready to be sent to platforms?

Thanks!

Nope, I didn't do anything to these except for raising the volume in some (most notable Jenny, plus S.L.A.Y., Outlaw and Electric Heaven but very very slightly in these three). Feels so good to finally have very decent qualities for most of these songs!

I'm using the 2014 final for the sake of production polish, because the 2014 demo is the superior version to me (can't stand the 1999 line ddd). And the 2020 version with the fire birds line... nah, I don't like that one.

You used all the final versions to adjust the volumes?

Me too. I believe perfect version would be 2020 production and 2014 lyrics

Yes, they didn't really need anything else to be adjusted except for the volume imo

You didn't happen to remaster or re-eq Wild Card, Hit Me Up, & Don't Get Mad?

Hit Me Up sounded good as is, while the others I kept off. I am still going to use them for my Side B, so I'll see what I can do with those two!

Please share them if you remaster them!

Are there any other fan versions of DGMGF instead of the Kendrick one? Maybe one feat Kim Petras?

Ha, nice idea. I may put hands on it although it'd be unrealistic af considering timing :cackle: any other artist suggestions that could've had a feature on it given the year?

WAIT I think I have an idea for a Kim feature tho :spy:
