Bonnie McKee - Hot City (aka Epic Album)

If she wanna come back and actually exist in some playlists, she SHOULD drop SLAY or Forever 21 as the gays have been waiting for it for years and I guess are ready to promote it and actually support her. As bad as I wanna disagree, anything else for her to drop is a loss of streams and potential and even loss of career (as if It wasn't over already :yeah:), in fact, even if she'd drop a very brand new song we've never heard of, it'll flop miserably and we can accept the fact she'll never happen again (think American Girl as happening)

Ruthless, but the truth had to be spoken :yeah:

Bonnie is literally an enigma to me because she literally has all the material she'll ever need to do some cute numbers on the charts/streaming at her fingertips, but no, girl is out there doing experimental short films, high budget TikToks, and dropping fillers like Thorns once every three years. That's the perfect recipe for a career suicide and utterly mind-boggling to me (as an outsider). If she's happy going on like this then it's all good and I'm happy for her, but I don't want to hear the same old story about her coming to Hollywood thinking she'd be the next Madonna and then having a breakdown when those dreams didn't come to pass. I know without a shadow of doubt that if she were to drop Forever 21 tomorrow the gays would support it. It might not go number 1 or take the entire world by storm, but it's gonna do better numbers than Thorns Pt. II or a Billie Eilish cover or Love Spell (Rerecorded).

I doubt we'll be getting a full Epic album as she's already given away "Waking Up Diagonal" and "Hit Me Up", and I can't see a nearly 40 year old woman releasing a song called "I Wanna Fucking Call You". I think these tracks would make a really solid EP:

  1. Forever 21
  2. S.L.A.Y.
  3. Everything But You
  4. Hot City
  5. Rewind Your Heart

But of course none of this will ever happen. 😂

True although if there's one thing we've learned from Taylor Swift, it's that you can rerelease anything under your name as long as you put (___'s Version) in the song title. If she wanted to stay true to the original vision, she could just rerecord Waking Up Diagonal/I Don't Care and slap (Bonnie's Version) after it. Same for Hit Me Up.

I think the tracklist you suggested is PERFECTION and would make a great EP. Or she could do a double disc album with Disc 1 having brand new songs on it and Disc 2 those five Epic songs fans have been demanding for nearly a decade now.

YO SHE SHOULD DROP THE ALBUM ON BANDCAMP, a couple of its singles (main like SLAY, Forever 21 or Rewind Your Heart) in streaming platforms and then move the fuck on :yeah:

I mean that sounds like a good plan. Bandcamp gives artists a bigger amount of $$ per sale than digital platforms do, and she could get some coin from the songs she knows we are loving :orly:

It's a good plan.

1) Drop a couple singles in the platforms to re-gain some traction. Maybe SLAY, Forever 21 or Rewind Your Heart could make it as "standalone" singles in Spotify, iTunes etc.

2) Drop the whole album including the singles (if she doesn't want it to be an album, 2 or 3 EPs are also suitable) on Bandcamp LESS THAN 8 months after the first single. (She could also use digital platforms which I'd love, but she'd need a lot of promo to really make it work)

3) She saves the era, gets some coin instead of us just playing leaks + she drops final HQ versions of the songs + WE ALL WIN, she and us.

4) She can ready the other album she talked about frequently in the last years.

It's... a good plan.

But I wonder if it's convenient for her :ohwell:

This is what’s so upsetting to me. Bonnie is literally sitting on pop perfection. She has been for several years actually. She mastered the kind of effervescent, bombastic pop music that gays live for. I’ll never understand why she didn’t release the Epic album after she got the masters back in 2015/16. I’ve said it a million times, but she could’ve easily acquired a Carly/Lana/Charli cult-like following if she had played her cards right 😭

I don't get involved in trading. selling/ buying because I think everything leaks like an old ladies tits in time.

Honestly as much as I appreicate the Peen Pics on here, as an O.G (older gay) I am slightly concerned about the potential for it being a Peado Paradise on here and other sites...

That part! Imo, the only thing I can think of in terms of why she's hesitant to release it is that she wants to do festivals and perform in some small venues.

Anyway, let's say 2022 really is THE year Bonnie finally gives us this important piece of 2010s pop history.... what would be y'all ideal single choices? We obviously don't know any of the new songs she might include, but if she includes most of the tracks we're all familiar with--which ones are you hoping would get the single treatment? For me, it's Forever 21, S.L.A.Y., and Rewind Your Heart.

And will she print a couple of physical copies like she did with Bombastic? (I know vinyl release is too much to ask, but I'd love to own a physical copy of the album).
