Let's put it this way: If they had met up just by some weird coincidence and neither knew that they were related, wouldn't that change the situation for you? You couldn't blame them for falling in love with each other if neither knew they were related.

It's the same situation here. They don't have a mother/son relationship because she never raised him. All they have is the romantic relationship they developed. They should be able to live like anyone else.
