Do you just paint over the original image on a new layer with the Overlay blend on or something? It looks so legit...

no, i use a hue/saturation layer with a layer mask because it's easier to go back and change the colors if needed

So wait, you make a new layer, then make a Hue/Saturation Layer Mask, then just paint over the layer mask with whatever colour you want? I'm a total moron when it comes to Photoshop so I'm trynna figure out how you make it look so good.

Fair enough, the official is pretty great. I would use it but I literally don't have one official artwork in my library...
