Petition To Ban 'Dark Horse' Video

This petition is lodged In regards to  Katy Perry's music video 'Dark Horse'; hosted by KatyPerryVEVO, on YouTube.

The video is considered as highly controversial to its viewers as a result of its portrayal of blasphemy.

At 01:15 into the video Dark Horse; a man is shown being burned, whilst wearing a pendant (also burned) forming the word 'Allah', which is the arabic word for God.

Such goes to show, that blasphemy is clearly conveyed in the video, since Katy Perry (who appears to be representing an opposition of God) engulfs the believer and the word God in flames.

This is the reason for lodging the petition so that people from different walks of life, different religions and from different parts of the world, agree that the video promotes blasphemy, using the name of God in an irrelevant and distasteful manner would be considered inappropriate by any religion

We hope that the video itself depicting such images is removed. Such acts are not condoned nor tolerated, we hope YouTube will remove the video

This is so ridiculous tbh. Katy's team probably just found that necklace in some costume department and thought, "oh, this would look good in a video".

People need to stop being so damn sensitive about every goddamn thing when it comes to religion, race, etc. There is child slavey and labour, poverty, disease and wars going on in the world and yet all people wanna talk about is one frame in an irrelevant pop music video.

I don't get why people are crying about others being "so sensitive" all the time. Were gay people being too sensitive when they complained about the new Bachelor Juan Pablo Galavis' comments about gay people?

Why are you always in here trying to start drama with everyone? You and I both know that what Katy did and what Juan did were completely different things. A more accurate comparison would be "Juan Pablo Galavis accidentally burns via special effects a five centimeter long rainbow flag in a tv show he did not animate, direct or style, without knowing that said flag was in fact a gay icon". His comments were deliberately homophobic and hurtful, whereas Katy's actions stem entirely out of ignorance.

He wasn't deliberately trying to undermine homosexuals. He honestly thought it would be inappropriate to show gay men being sexual on TV and most people would agree with him. Like Katy's video, his comments stem from ignorance (and hypocrisy) as well.

Anyway... again, I don't see how it's "sensitive" for people to complain that she turned a man wearing a necklace that says God into dust. No one said Katy chose the prop or edited the video. She's just mentioned because it's her music video. No one cares about the people in the background. Moroever, wouldn't you think it's tasteless if Katy did the same thing to a man wearing a T-shirt that says Homosexual? It would be awkward and senseless.

It's different because Islam is a relatively hidden and unknown religion for many people, especially those living in the US. It's justifiable that an American pop singer wouldn't be educated on not only Islamic culture in general, but also the ins and outs of the Arabic language and what every single letter of the Arabic alphabet means, especially given Katy's background in the Christian religion.

On the other hand, gay rights is probably the most discussed human rights issue in the media nowadays, and so there's not really any excuse for someone in the public eye like Juan Pablo to be ignorant about it. His comments about gay people being "perverts" and bad examples for young children were deliberately said in order to hurt and belittle gay people: if he really felt strongly about the issue he could have been more respectful about the situation, but instead he chose words that he knew would be offensive carelessly purely in order to offend gay people. Also, in regards to your comment about "most people" finding it inappropriate to feature gay couples on television shows: fans of some of the biggest tv shows such as  Modern Family, Glee, Scandal and Revenge disagree with you.
