It is also the subject of an elaborate hoax placing the band in 1974, including a half hour mockumentary produced for television network VH1 and a series of bogus World Wide Web fan sites and related false documents for the 'lost' group.Make Believe is the first album by Platinum Weird. To tie in with the band's back-story, it was marketed as a "lost" album from 1974, with vocals credited to fictional lead singer Erin Grace. In reality, the album was written and recorded in 2005 and 2006, with vocals by Kara DioGuardi. The album features Ringo Starr on two tracks.In a September 2011 interview, Dave Stewart stated that "the actual Platinum Weird record never actually came out!" Originally, the bonus disc that came in Best Buy copies of the album, was the actual album that was supposed to released. I remember hearing about them ages ago when I was looking into Kara's songwriting but I've never actually heard any of their songs! I love that they came up with a whole concept behind the band and put so much work into it. 'Will You Be Around' legit sounds like a Fleetwood Mac song, I love it. The song writing was fantastic and the overall sound is sort of like the Disney pop/rock sound of the early to mid 2000s (like Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan and Ashlee Simpson (no surprise they all worked with Kara lol)). If anyone can find it again we'd all be in for a treat.
