The official snippet is not good, and the lyrics are cringeworthy. If the leaks are real, it will not be the comeback single she desperately needs.

I find it very interesting that she's brought back the Teenage Dream Team, but Bonnie is not mentioned or involved. I wonder if she was asked and declined or if an invitation was never extended. Bonnie has not eluded to any tension between them, but it's also kind of clear they haven't been in contact in recent years. I was kind of hoping Katy would at least post an Insta story around Bonnie's album release but it becomes more clear the more we learn about her that she's not really a girl's girl. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/katy-perry-new-album-kp6-dr-luke-max-martin-1235041835/

The violin on RWH is so beautiful. It might be my current fave track...

I just want to say that I'm so glad I found this forum all those years ago. I don't think it exists anymore but there was a clip on YouTube where Bonnie played a clip of SLAY's studio version for a Radio DJ back when she was touring with Karmen. I ripped that clip from YouTube and had it on my iPod. I knew it was something special. I lost all hope after a while and I didn't think I'd ever hear it. While it got messy here from time to time and there were many false starts, it's really incredible to see that we're here on album release day. This forum played a part in keeping the dream alive. Not only that but it's getting near-universal praise and is currently running up the iTunes charts (No. 4 on Pop and No. 18 on All Genres). Bonnie should be so proud. I know I'm proud of her. I hope everyone is enjoying this as much as I am. Cheers and happy listening!

She really said Visual Album. I'm so impressed by her output and glad it's all on her terms and her creative vision. I hope she can ride the Sabrina Carpenter/Chappel Roan wave. With Katy releasing soon, too, she might get a nice lift if glittery pop is in the spotlight.

I have tickets for Allie X in Toronto but I think I'm making an executive decision and making the drive from Buffalo for this instead 🔥

Can't wait to purchase this in every format possible. Already bought it on iTunes but having this artwork on vinyl will be so surreal. Forever 21 sounds fantastic. She's doing a Pride show in Albany, about a 5 hour drive for me, and I cannot wait!!!

DGMGF video should pass Hot City in views on YT today. It’s at around 257K after 4 days and Hot City has 272K. I know Hot City received a content warning so that probably hurt it’s performance, but even SLAY is at around 450K. The short format might actually be helping a little bit.

Alright, this is kinda crafty. A Bonnie co-sign/co-write is a big deal for anyone trying to break into the pop scene. It's a great way to get other creators using the sound/song.
-
It’s a visualizer. These are often just looped clips. She’s finalizing the edit on the full video.
-
It’s out there and appears that it is indeed 1:21. Maybe serving as an interlude on the overall album.

It’s really wild but it feels like Bonnie is shadowbanned on apps like TikTok and IG. I hardly use TikTok and I follow about 10 people, including Bonnie. I only interact with her content (comments/likes). Her content NEVER appears in my Following or For You feed. I have to search her to see new videos posted by her. It’s kinda wild and I feel like she’s being held back by something.

Yeah Bonnie confirmed for me when I questioned the opening lyric, “Ask me why they used to say that trouble was my name”. It’s a reference to her first album.

She has a texting service now. Said she’ll be announcing new music, merch, and tour info with it. The new single text came last night.
-
Next single announcement today!!! Guesses? I’m hoping for Forever 21 or Electric Heaven.

We’re really getting 2 NEW Bonnie vids in less than 2 months. Hot City. August 11.
-
I like how emotional she sounds when she sings "light em up and throw em away". There's a shakiness in her voice on "away" that is a nice touch.

Here it is everyone!

We did it, y’all. Can’t believe this moment is here. Buy, stream, add to your public playlists, get a job at Walmart and blast it over the intercom. Whatever it takes to get this song and project the traction it deserves. Music video and a big write up go live in n Rolling Stone at 9am tomorrow!

Please, these gays are trying to take credit for my work.

In terms of another PR angle, I always think back to these Jezebel pieces. They are less than four months apart and are written by the same journalist, Kate Dries. Jezebel was the "feminist" wing of Gawker Media's news platform. The first article is very friendly and recognizes Bonnie's accomplishments behind the scenes. The second is incredibly hostile and snarky - in hindsight, the first article is very uncharacteristic of Gawker's tone, especially when it comes to celebrity. But what I think could be interesting is reframing this as sexism and ageism in Hollywood in the music industry and pop culture media that was still so prevalent in 2013, despite us all pretending that we'd rounded a corner. I don't think it's much better today, but now that Bonnie's outside of the age range for a typical "pop star", it could be an interesting story to tell about how she was only given one song to prove her worth in a time period where the music industry metrics for success were rapidly changing and near impossible to pin down. It would seem wild to discredit a song for peaking at #37 on the Billboard Hot 100 today, but it was a death sentence for Bonnie back then. It might be interesting to pitch it to Kate and Bonnie for a sit-down interview to discuss Jezebel's about-face on Bonnie and the topics of sexism, ageism, and misogyny in pop culture. It looks like Kate is Executive Editor at Dwell Magazine now, so maybe they do a shoot in Bonnie's Hollywood Hills home and Bonnie can ask where Kate's mansion and multiple Billboard #1 plaques are 😅
-
I was actually thinking about this. Might put together some pitches and send them to pop/music publications and see what happens.

OMG thank you, that's amazing!!
