  2. Dua lands the cover of the September issue of French “Vogue” (the most important month in the fashion calendar) in couture: Key takeaways from the accompanying article: She’s focusing on her new album and “making the most” of her youth after being asked if she plans to have kids. More specifically she states “The only baby I think of is my new album.” She reveals that she doesn’t listen to her own music “unless it comes on the radio or is playing at a club”. Dua on fear and insecurities being the roots of prejudice: “Homophobia and transphobia are related to misogyny. Many people, deep down, are just afraid of themselves. The freedom of others puts them in front of what they do not have the courage to express. The beauty of a free, true and proud being, tetanizes them.”
  3. I forgot about this. The autotune was quite off-putting. I never go back to that version (despite having now pre-ordered the CD). I regard Keisha as one of the most PR savvy pop stars ever and I take anything she says about “Back to Life” or “Breathe Me” with a pinch of salt. Despite preferring those in unpolished form, It is my understanding there was no actual intention to use either of them prior to 2022.

  5. Thanks, that wasn’t there when I last checked. I see they have left the “deluxe edition” tracks off (I ordered nonetheless). I note it has a September release. I’m so going to hate myself when October rolls around and they announce a physical CD repack with the three “extra” tracks. I hate falling for this kind of bogus, staggered release strategy skullduggery!
  6. Fred Again previews a new song titled “Be Alright” with Selena during his set: https://x.com/mediabuzz0007/status/1693074463871357334?s=46&t=qVxXxGutVVTUxXqcm7QsFQ (Link won’t embed for some reason).
  7. I get there are certain things they don’t want to admit to and that’s fine, the proof is not documented (or rather they lost access to it) time moves on. Going there merely opens an unnecessary, festering Pandora’s box of sweltering angst amongst the fanbase (so I won’t be the one to open it). It makes sense from a marketing standpoint to only tell the public what they (we) need to know when presenting us with the (finally) released iteration of the album in the form of “the lost tapes” in 2022. We know the album only got given that stupid “lost tapes” title and dubious track sequencing in 2022 (on account of it being held in storage for best part of a decade) and we know why. We also know “Too in Love” and “Love in Stereo” were part of the original track sequence and only had to be removed from the 2022 iteration of the album due to their sale in intervening years to other artists (James Arthur and Bananarama). We also know the original iteration of the album would have used “Lay Down In Swimming Pools” and not “I Lay Down” (but licensing to the Kendrick Lamar sample expired). I’m glad they eventually had the psychological release of getting an adapted iteration of the album finally out there (much like Bonnie McKee now). However, all I’m personally taking away from “the lost tapes” is a sense of being grateful that we got those tracks in WAV (some of the updated ad-libs remain questionable and in some cases the old ad-libs were better). If I never see a “Sacred Three” fan artwork ever again, it will still be too soon.
  8. I can’t believe that thing is up to her old tricks again. I hope the real Kylie’s lawyers wipe the floor with her!
  9. Have you ever been mellow?

  10. There’s a rumor (from an apparently reliable source) that pre-orders will go live at the beginning of October for a November release to mark its 20th Anniversary. In the present her team (understandably) feel it’s enough for focus to be split between the upcoming studio album, the Las Vegas residency, the “I Should Be So Lucky” musical and the 35th anniversary repack of the debut.
  11. Britney Spears and Sam Asghari are divorcing over allegations of cheating after Sam confronted Britney over rumors she cheated on him, according to TMZ.
  12. Visual teaser for “Gloria” now (different clothes/ day/ location this time): https://www.instagram.com/reel/CwANBgXIvti/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
  13. “Kylie” (debut album) - 35th Anniversary vinyl editions, available for pre-order now: Release Date: Friday, November 24th 2023 The Singles: The Live Vocal Performances: ”Look My Way” (Australian Broadcast): “It’s No Secret” (U.S. Broadcast): Bridging tracks (with no parent studio album) that connect this era to the next: All of the above (with the exception of “Look My Way”) have official, (properly) extended 12” club mixes. “Turn It Into Love” ⬇️ the much loved album track that for decades has been widely regarded as “the single that got away”, given an excellent unofficial extended mix by a fan: In fact “Turn It Into Love” was so loved that another recording artist re-recorded it (with the same producers but with a different, crappy backing track) and released it later that same year as a single. Nobody ever preferred her version ⬇️ over Kylie’s version:
  14. I wanted to introduce a new (occasional) feature to the thread (depending on level of engagement) whereby we place each individual Selena album (era) under the microscope, take a deep dive and dissect all era specific information/ data we have regarding each stand alone album era. I realise some might consider “The Scene” albums to not be part of Selina’s solo discography but I’m not that puritanical and let’s face it, The Scene were never at any point a viable band independent of and without Selena at the forefront anyway. Feel free to have any other Selena related discussion in this general discussion thread (running concurrently) that you want - I’d simply appreciate the input of those regular contributors to this thread who want to go on this chronological album journey - as I do not profess to be an expert on Selina’s output and I welcome the opportunity to learn more from others. As part of this step by step discussion on Selena’s album discography, it makes sense to slowly piece together an unreleased shadow tracker of era specific Selena outtakes and unused tracks. Under the Microscope: Album Era One “Kiss & Tell” (Selena & The Scene): “Kiss & Tell” was released in 2009 and had different artworks in different territories: It featured two singles “Falling Down” and “Naturally” (the Dave Audé Radio Remix) of the latter became the main mix in some countries. 01. Kiss & Tell 02. I Won’t Apologize 03. Falling Down 04. I Promise You 05. Crush 06. Naturally 07. The Way I Loved You 08. More 09. As A Blonde 10. I Don’t Miss You at All 11. Stop & Erase 12. I Got You 13. Tell Me Something I Don’t Know 14. Naturally (Dave Audé Radio Remix) Every pop girl has at least one unashamed ‘pure pop’ studio album, created with the specific intention of breaking the artist (at the centre) directly through to the mainstream without any risk, stylistic nuance (often prior to any future notion of ‘artistic growth’). There is a case that “Kiss & Tell” could be Selena’s (then again perhaps it’s not and we may touch on why during a later era). For now however, what are your memories of this debut Selena release? Is this the album that made you a Selenator? Did this album stand out more than studio album releases by rival artists such as Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato from the same time period (or at that point did you prefer their material)? Is Selena singing about Justin Bieber on “Naturally” or was that before he was even in her orbit? Also, what information/ knowledge can we piece together regarding outtakes/ unreleased tracks (if any) from this debut Selena era - or any even earlier recording sessions that preceded (though ultimately led up to) “Kiss & Tell” becoming Selena (and The Scene’s) debut 2009 release on Hollywood Records?
  15. I believe she’s already moved on to the title track “Euphoria” as she recently uploaded a clip of her lip syncing to that on her IG, wearing the same outfit/ wig (on the set of the “I Surrender” video), that she wore in the previous short solo clip for “Summer Night City”. Though the drop of the SNC and “Euphoria” clips appeared weeks apart, it seems they were both filmed behind the scenes on the set of the “I Surrender” video at the same time. https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cv9ctm0ozr9/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== I gather overall feedback for SNC (from the wider fanbase) was not that positive which may be why she already appears to have moved on to visually teasing the album title track.
  16. Does anyone happen to know if 7th Heaven remixed Steps “To The Beat Of My Heart”? (it seems strange that it does not appear to exist). If 7th Heaven never touched it, does that make it the only single (since Steps reunion) that they never did a remix for?
  17. Preview of “Hot City” Video: Full video coming later tonight.
