  1. ——————————————————————————————— SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: DANNII MINOGUE, “NEON NIGHTS” (20th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION). —————————————————————————————— Hello gays, the Minogue sister with the most genetically gifted vocal range has a 20th Anniversary Edition of her Boptastic 4th album “Neon Nights” (with lots of bonus goodies), spread across multiple formats: First 1000 copies contains a bonus CD. "It’s one thing to create an excellent three-and-a-half-minute dance-pop song, but another to sustain the appeal over an entire album. Kylie managed it with Fever, Madonna followed suit on Confessions on a Dance Floor. Dannii’s contribution to the genre on Neon Nights is every bit as good as those classics." - IDOLATOR ——————————————————————————————— Main Link: https://danniiminogue.tmstor.es/products Alt Links: https://danniiminogue.lnk.to/neonnights20 ——————————————————————————————— Content: Limited edition 7 CD Set in Clamshell Box with booklet Over 100 tracks New liner notes Features Neon Nights + Bonus tracks, plus CD Singles 12 new mixes, plus many unreleased mixes from the archives ——————————————————————————————— ——————————————————————————————— CD 1 - Neon Nights + Bonus Tracks 1 Put The Needle On It 2 Creep 3 I Begin To Wonder 4 Hey (So What) 5 For The Record 6 Mighty Fine 7 On The Loop 8 Push 9 Mystified 10 Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling 11 Vibe On 12 A Piece Of Time 13 Who Do You Love Now? 14 It Won't Work Out 15 Come And Get It (Radio Version) 16 Blame It On The Music 17 Hide And Seek 18 Nervous 19 Goodbye Song 20 Just Can't Give You Up 21 Viva L'amour ——————————————————————————————— CD 2 - Who Do You Love Now? 1 Who Do You Love Now? 2. From the clip, I get why the term “basic bop” is being used to describe it. I do expect Kylie to have a direction/ flavour and that is lacking. However if I take Kylie out of the equation, the breakdown section feels stronger to me. As a former avid clubber (and now an occasional one) I do love vocal house. Whilst house does make sense for an artist with a primarily gay demographic, I do expect Kylie’s team to be more nuanced than her audience and give something with personality and a signature mood (which unexpectedly feels absent) beyond a base compulsion to dance.
  3. Oliver Heldens on his new single with Kylie Minogue: "It's very disco, funk and soul-inspired but actually quite pop. I’m pretty excited about this song". The new single “10 out of 10” out April 5. (As she is a “feature” it is not considered to be her album’s lead single, but is apparently a bonus track on an as yet unannounced deluxe edition).
  4. A long time ago I heard that many were recycled on Holly Valance’s sophomore album “State of Mind”. London Records coincidentally put out the same ‘edgy 21st century pop album’ brief to industry writers in the same time period that Polydor also did for Girls Aloud. Holly worked with at least three separate production teams (that Girls Aloud also did) during the same time period. As with Sugababes “Too in Love”, later not being permitted an official release (as it went to James Arthur and became “Get Down”) - original, lyric versions of the GA songs that ended up being re-lyriced by Holly - cannot receive an official release as they were bought by London (now Warner’s) and GA were on Polydor (Universal). However, I believe there are at least two early and unused, Metro produced GA tracks in the archive that got shelved and also two other separate Mathias Johannson/ Henrik Korpi tracks that no-one else later went on to re-record. Although it’s not relevant to this thread, the Holly track “Curious” was originally recorded by Kylie and (like the song “Toxic”), it was originally intended for an early draft of Kylie’s ninth studio album (that later metamorphosed into “Body Language”, before Kylie switched A&R direction) and these two early demo submissions were subsequently binned. Later into production, Parlophone A&R switched direction with a new writers brief requesting a ‘languid’, down tempo, left-field pop track. Two tracks, “Hypnotic” and “Slow” were submitted (in response) by different writing teams aiming to fulfil the requisite brief, the Kylie co-write “Slow” won the race with the cast-off going to Holly.
  5. It would be so meta, if someone were to finally put Britney’s voice on this track (after all these years), given it was “inspired” by her (then) sound.
  6. Um, the cultural, cosmopolitan center’s of the planet where fashion, music, art, talent and industry bods (of which BlackOut zone clearly wanted us to believe he was one) and all things that move each trend forward relative to the pop culture zeitgeist (regardless of the passage of time) are atypically considered to be NY, LA, London, Paris and Milan (not necessarily in that order) and whilst the astronomical rise in the popularity of K-Pop now means that Seoul and South Korea are added to that list… Warsaw, Poland just ain’t the tea honey, sorry. But hey, I just happen to be a Minelli stan (probably only one of two), so I am all for somewhere in Eastern Europe (so long as it’s NOT Russia) - whether it be Poland or Romania, one day being added to that list and showing the world how to DO pop culture, but sadly that’s not gonna happen in 2023. So do forgive me if I don’t traditionally need Twitter advice from a tastemaker in Warsaw such as BlackoutZone on how to relate to artists who are far more often (than not) born more down my own road (as opposed to his). .. Though that does not mean I don’t think he has not been a nice guy to talk to at times (because I do), though @Vixen Eyes above post has come as a shock and made me reconsider what he’s actually like on the down low.
  7. Well I for one do not. Many of us here have experienced bigotry in some form, whether that be sexuality or colour. WTAF!
  8. Sadly, that specific remix of that particular flop song has received an insidious level of over saturated praise and attention in the past decade + from a stultifyingly provincial gay on another forum whose brain can only process one style of music production from 1986-1991. It’s a crying shame the undue level of attention that flop has gotten from such a rich and varied artist and the one true, undisputed ‘Queen of Disco’, Donna Summer.
  9. Her former producer Rick Nowels deserted her as the years passed by, bitterness ensued and he instead made a bunch of money producing these (mostly for Lana) instead: But as of Thursday, May 16th 2023 - Belinda Carlisle is back with this Diane Warren produced track “Big Big Love” instead (her first Diane produced track since “I Get Weak” way back in 1987): And I rather like it.
  10. I should cringe at how these graphics look in 2023, but it’s deep level of playability still make it the best game I played in my life. So much so that I want to revisit it (if I can ever be assed dusting down the equipment to do so). Dizzy: One.
  11. I’m hearing this other rumour (that I’m taking with a VERY heavy grain of salt), that he is Russian and was evading being conscripted to fight in Ukraine and the Russian authorities caught up with him. I suspect it’s bs though. I can’t really imagine a gay bottom killing innocents with live ammunition (or anything else) tbh.
  12. THE PRESENT - ALISON GOLDFRAPP SOLO CAREER: Alison Goldfrapp, is NOT a failed tween Disney Princess with a failed pop career who could not get an album out on Hollywood Records circa 2002. She returns as a solo artist (her first without band mate Will Gregory), on her upcoming debut album “The Love Invention” which includes at least one collaboration with Richard X, who was so ‘inspired’ by the production on the Goldfrapp produced track “Strict Machine”, that he assimilated it without permission and used it on Rachel Stevens “Some Girls”. Debut Video from upcoming album: Album Pre-Order link (Including Web Store Exclusive Limited Edition Green Vinyl): https://alisongoldfrapp.tmstor.es/products HMV Exclusive Limited Edition Purple Vinyl: https://hmv.com/Store/Music/Vinyl/The-Love-Invention-Coloured-Vinyl Latest Spotify Release: Fever (Paul Woodford Extended Mix), [Beatport Exclusive]: https://www.beatport.com/release/fever/4005728 Full Linktree: https://alisongoldfrapp.lnk.to/TheLoveInvention ———————————————————————————————— THE PAST - GOLDFRAPP (THE GROUP) BACK CATALOGUE: Selected Goldfrapp Videography: Strict Machine: Ooh La La: Anymore: Number One: Alive: Train: Ride A White Horse: Everything Is Never Enough: Systematic: Rocket: Happiness: A&E: Pilots: Utopia: Goldfrapp (the group’s) album catalogue alternates between (predominately) mellow and uptempo albums. * Signature ‘Happy’ Album: * Signature ‘Mellow’ Album: * Signature ‘Mood Blend’ Album: My favourite Goldfrapp (group) album will likely always be “Supernature”, but I also appreciate their mellow side just as much (sometimes more). What is yours? Are you in a territory that loves Alison Goldfrapp in all her incarnations (solo and group) or do you even know who she is?
  13. What was his definitive leak (or whatever) that made everyone go ‘wow’? I know he had some things that most people who do not live in the in U.S. simply don’t care enough about. I’m just struggling to think of his ‘Greatest Hits’.
  14. Poland though.. Do you know, would any of those other names happen to be behind the leaking of those work in progress mixes of Madonna’s “Rebel Heart” album from a few years ago?
  15. Wow, I’m shocked. I always got the impression he was some kind of “insider” who worked in an official capacity for an unspecified record label. He would often allude to having knowledge of specific artist campaigns in the planning stages, that had not yet been rolled out to the public. I always found the details to be lacking tbh, but I know many of his followers enjoyed the experience of being edged. His stanning of Dua Lipa is kinda legendary on Twitter and he was always passionate about the artists he loved, which I respected (even if some of the other, lesser ones he championed bored me to tears).
  16. Brazilian pop star Anitta drags Warner Music on IG, saying she regrets signing with the label and would have “auctioned off her organs” to be let out of her contract. In response Anitta’s fans held a protest at one #WarnerMusic offices after CEO Aaron Bay-Schuck rejected the star’s plea to be released from her contract. Her fans are now using these hashtags on social media to show support #FreeAnitta #WarnerIsOverParty. Objectively, does Anitta have an actual problem here, rooted in sexism that contractually places her at an economic disadvantage? If so, do these issues stem from actual issues of misogyny and sexism within the Brazilian music industry? Do other Brazilian female entertainers typically have good working relationships with their record labels? Or alternatively, is Anitta merely regretful of having once signed a standard industry contract with a major when she was an unknown? and now simply flexing her star power to shine publicity on her personal relationship struggles with her label as a means of leverage to re-negotiate her contract.. now that her fame extends internationally and using her now international profile to apply pressure on her label to aid these contract negotiations?
  17. Kylie has reportedly finally finished recording her new album and it’s entered the final mixing stage. It’s a dance/pop album with influences from the 90’s and 00’s. It’s a dance journey….. which is being cleverly worked to include ‘Disco’ into the narrative for the forthcoming tour.
  18. Strange, you already created this thread then wanted it deleted.
  19. Songwriter Kamille on working with Kylie Minogue for her new album “I was in the studio, sipping Kylie Wine in front of Kylie - it was ridiculous. We were singing some of her songs; I was singing Better The Devil You Know and she sang it back to me. It was such a surreal moment!” * Songwriter Kamille is "so excited" for Kylie's new music. "You're gonna love it!" – she said. * Kylie will move on to the visual side of the campaign soon.
  20. Kris Jenner makes a cameo in the “Mother” music video.
  21. Some of my early favourite deeper cuts: And from later on:
  22. “Fever” May have been more popular in the U.S. but “Light Years” is a classic that put her back on the map after a few years of left field experimentation. I’d love to hear your thoughts on her work. I can’t even imagine how her first four albums would sound for the first time in the context of 2023.
  23. Kylie and Dannii at Sydney “World Pride”: In other news, after careful deliberation Kylie has apparently declined an invite to perform at the U.K. coronation of King Charles due to concerns over how that would be perceived in her native Australia where there is apparently a rise in pro-republicanism (and anti commonwealth sentiment).
  24. Yes, the Biff produced “I Love It” was definitely the weakest track (at least for me) out of the entire “Disco” era. Though I do feel “Say Something” was classic Kylie (I do recall some having an issue with guitars on that track, but not me). However, I am not sure how I feel about Karen Poole being back on the writing team for a new Kylie studio album (for the first time since “Kylie Christmas”). “Wow” is one of the very few tracks from Kylie’s entire career that I never took to (and I wasn’t really feeling much of her other contributions towards the end of her tenure as writer), so when Karen was eventually ‘rested’, I did not miss her. I hope the years she has been out of the Kylie fold now means she is fully rested and her creativity is replenished.
  25. Kylie is working on a new album which she describes as a "pop-dance exploration". "I can't give too much away, but there's some 2000s electro, Nineties house and what I like to call emoto-pop," says Kylie.
