  1. I wanted to wait before commenting on your post because I was only vaguely aware of some of those names aside from Ariana Grande (and Miranda Cosgrove whom I had long since been aware was given Sugababes “About You Now” in the U.S). I can be absolutely shameless when it comes to searching out a tune, a melody or lyrics that hit me just right. I know that creative inspiration can strike a songwriter anywhere at any time (regardless of the specific market segment that an artist who ends up fronting a certain track actually comes out of). I had seen those artists mentioned from time to time on the ‘latest leaks’ thread and suspected (but was never sure), if they had indeed originated from Nickelodeon. As such you post sent me down a rabbit hole and my recent YouTube/ Wiki history now looks like this: So thank you for filling in some blanks, helping me join some dots and for helping me see pop music from a completely different angle than I usually do.
  2. So sad to hear of her passing, she is such a beloved icon of music who attained legendary stays long ago. She definitely had a life well lived and is possibly the original queen of reinvention (not to mention, a truly empowering and inspirational survivor of domestic abuse). Being known latterly as a major influence on Beyoncé simply doesn’t do her justice. Some less upfront cuts, I have always liked most by her: ”Fool In Love” ”Shake A Tail Feather” ”It’s Gonna Work Out Fine” “Proud Mary” “Afterglow (12” Vocal Dance Remix)” Plus her cover of “I Can’t Stand The Rain” Also Beyoncé’s 2005 Tribute Performance of “Proud Mary” .. Rest In Peace Tina, know that you are one of the original innovators and your place in music history is assured.
  3. Dannii serves the Tea: “I was called the fat ugly sister of Kylie. I was the brunt of the joke for people”:
  4. I was ever so slightly surprised today when a very old song unexpectedly cropped up as a brief topic of discussion on the Kim Petra’s thread and it made me wonder.. What are peoples earliest memories of pop music? What is the song, artist (or album era) that made you realize you love pop music?
  5. First look at Dua wearing La Vacanza, the clothing collection co-created by Dua with Donatella Versace. The full collection will be revealed later today.
  6. Aww, lovely creature. I have so much respect and admiration for people who can offer animals a safe and loving, secure environment. This is literally the prefect antidote I needed from graphic images on my Facebook feed for animal charities.
  7. Press article, giving promo to Dannii’s first new single in six years “We Could Be The One”, described as ‘euphoric’, released June 2nd. (Her first since the Sia written “Galaxy” in 2017). Dannii is now reunited with her long time producer Ian Masterson. https://retropopmagazine.com/dannii-minogue-finally-returns-to-pop-with-euphoric-new-single-we-could-be-the-one/?fbclid=IwAR0nnReU6NmBJ3v-7Vw60sCzg-a0MPiyMWbP1tLGuv4U_W7FqBjqw13a-5A Spotify and Apple Pre-Save Links: https://presave.to/mTFP01D
  8. I won’t be satisfied they are actually listening to fans until they put “Ace Reject” in their set lists. Everyone (and their dog) has let them know multiple times that they want them to include it - yet still they find ways to resist the pressure to do so.
  9. Guys, we are clearly under attack from some kind of spam. Is that shit even human (idk)? Anyway, if this doesn’t get lost in the sea of airplane crap, i’m sure someone will be online soon who can sort it out.
  10. I have a mellow side, I totally get that LDR is an acquired taste, and that’s cool. I’m not here to convert anyone. I just want to put this here because never in my life has an unreleased song by ANYONE ever had the level of impact on me that this song is having on me right now.
  11. Welcome, I hope you enjoy your time here.
  12. Britney Spears: “Genie In A Bottle”:
  13. Single timing seems feasible. I don’t think they will do much on the U.K. Singles chart in the streaming age (but I’d love to be wrong). However I envisage they will be received warmly, if something unexpected goes wrong I believe the album will be bumped to an empty Quarter 1 release week in Feb 2024.
  14. Apparently they are working on a new album currently. I anticipate it will be released a few weeks prior to Christmas (around November).
  15. I have a strong connection to “Little Earthquakes”, “Under The Pink” and “Scarlet’s Walk” and whilst I appreciate her and am grateful she exists, she will always be Kate Bush’s younger, spiritual sister to me.
  16. Naughty, someone’s been listening to “Love to love you Baby”:

  18. I definitely hear the artistic evolution in her music. Looking at where she is with the music in the present, I now kinda get why the ‘party girl’ image that brought her fame felt so inauthentic to her. She is clearly destined to become a much loved artist of her generation and a lot of other artists would love to have her monthly listeners on Spotify. I do wonder if she privately feels commercial pressure to concede to the demands of TikTok though. Listening to some of her newer material kinda makes me want to pad it out and extend the experience by listening to Michelle Branch’s “Hopeless Romantic” album. Katy Perry definitely feels like an artist in free fall to me. I find it low-key fascinating how her commercial success appears to have deserted her. She was beyond doubt one of the big pop girls of their generation but her appeal now seems in decline. Despite the money that a major label like Capitol has, combined to the A&R talents of their staff - it seems so crazy to me that nobody picked up on the fact that after the “Teenage Dream” era, Katy’s tunes appear to have fallen away and placed her commercial success in such a state of jeopardy. I can’t believe that despite the supposed executive talent around her - that situation was even allowed to happen. There have been rumors of her working on a dance album, do you think that is the right fit for her? or that it could restore her success/ billboard chart positions back to what they once were?
