  1. Who do you think it should be instead of Gaga tho? When you think about it, all the other big pop girls like Britney, Rih, Katy and Taylor have been super quiet this year so idk who would have deserved it if not Gaga. Maybe Miley?
  2. I know! It's not fair, Sarah should be dating me instead.
  3. In a somewhat bizarre, if endearing plot twist worthy of American Horror Story itself, AHS star Sarah Paulson has been linked romantically to Two and A Half Men legend Holland Taylor! While both actresses have yet to officially confirm the relationship, fans were quick to ship the 40 year old Paulson with the 72 year old Taylor after spotting a series of typically besotted Tweets from the latter stretching back to at least November. The two have clearly been spending a lot of time together, with shots showing them together on red carpets, at each others homes, and out on the town at romantic candlelit dinners. While Paulson's sexuality may come as news to some, this isn't the first time the 12 Years A Slave star has been linked to an older lady in the tabloids. From 2004 - 2009, she dated fellow actress Cherry Jones, who was 48 years old at the time while Paulson was only 29. When Jones accepted a Tony award for Best Actress in 2005, she thanked 'Laura Wingfield', a character who Paulson was playing at the time in the Broadway revival of Glass Menagerie. In 2007, the couple declared their love for each other publicly in an interview with Velvetpark. Since then, however, Paulson has not been officially linked to any other one person. Despite rumours that she has dated actors such as Pedro Pascal, Michael Fassbender and even fellow American Horror Story star Jessica Lange, Paulson has remained tight-lipped on the subject, saying only that "the situation is fluid for me".
  4. So it's officially December which means it's finally time to start working on our end of year lists! For our film list, I've included the top twenty highest grossing films of the year, but of course that means that there's a lot of lesser known films missing from the poll. So if your favourite movie from 2015 isn't on the list, feel free to vote for anything on the poll that takes your fancy and then post your real favourite down below in this topic! For me personally, I feel like I've seen a fair few movies this year but none have really impressed me that much - although with Star Wars and a bunch of other movies coming out later this month that still has time to change! In second place for me would be The Martian. I don't think I've ever seen a film work with so many characters so well and yet make them all relatable, likeable and important in terms of plot. It was really the polar opposite of something like Jurassic World, which worked with only four characters and yet for me was unable to make a single one of them likeable. But my all time favourite movie of the year was Inside Out! Not only was it wildly inventive, beautifully animated and gorgeously scored, but the plot itself had such a touching and honest message for both children and adults and I was honestly a bawling mess by the end of it. And not only did it have the overarching, obvious message of embracing your emotions and accepting sadness, but it also had a lot of subtle little messages about gender and mental illness I picked up on which really made it shine for me. What about you guys?
  5. If you've ever had your wisdom teeth taken out before, you'll know how much effort goes into even the simple things while you're in recovery. Daily activities like sleeping, eating and talking become chores as you walk around with a constant throbbing in your bones and a pounding in your head. Spending half your day asleep and the other in a Panadol-infused stupor, it's easy to hide yourself away in the shadows of a darkened room, with only a tub of Ben and Jerry's and your dog for company. Today, I had two reasons to leave the solitude of my canine confines and venture out into the big wide world. The first was the introduction of the McDonalds Loaded French Fries in Australia, which are your typical chips but sprinkled with melted cheese and bacon crumbles. They were definitely worth it. The second was the release of Ginny Blackmore's long-awaited debut album, Over the Moon. Blackmore first hit our radar with the release of her first single 'Bones' way back in 2013, a song she co-wrote with a glass of wine during a "girly, emotional moment" one night in Los Angeles which later helped in getting her both seen and signed by the legendary L.A. Reid of Epic Records. Since then, the New Zealand born songstress has had a song recorded by Christina Aguilera, talked fantasy novels with Kanye West, and, as of today, passed her first real test on her way to pop superstardom; releasing her debut album to what so far has been an overwhelmingly positive response. On today, the day of her album launch, Ginny was kind enough to tear herself away from celebrations with family to chat with us about how she got started making music, where she's at now in her career and everything she has planned for the future. As for whether or not Ginny's words matched the magnificence of French Fries? Read on below and find out for yourself! Hi Ginny! Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to chat to you! Where are you writing to us from right now? I'm in Auckland, New Zealand! Home sweet home. It seems like this album has been such a long time coming - excuse the pun, but you must be "over the moon" that it's finally been released! How are you celebrating today? With mum and dad! We were watching MasterChef and drinking champagne and the advert for the album came on, and they screamed, and I ran out saying "What, what?!" And our faces were all: And so on and so forth. We heard our first taste of your music back in 2013, when you released your debut single 'Bones', which went on to smash the New Zealand charts and make waves internationally. Has Over the Moon changed shape since this initial release, or have you stuck to pretty much the same plan all along? 'Bones' is actually a great indicator of what's on the album. There are a couple of song on there that are even older! But 'Bones' only represented a wounded and emotional side. There are others on Over the Moon that display my joyful side! There's a few tracks on there which I know were originally written for other artists - specifically, 'SFM' which was recorded by Christina Aguilera for 2012's Lotus under the name 'Sing For Me', and 'Love Strikes' which was released by Katherine McPhee as a single earlier this year. What inspired you to release your own versions of these songs? Were they too hard to give up? You're exactly right - some songs are so close to me that I'd cry about not being able to sing them! Especially having written them about my own experience. But it's amazing to reach people I wouldn't have been able to had I not had those amazing artists release them. I believe that the song is more important than the voice...so I'm happy to share the songs around. When it comes to songwriting for others, do you find that your writing style changes at all based on your subject's personal situations? Or do you write for yourself first and foremost? Great question! If I'm asked to write for someone I try to imagine their voice and style as I do it. I'm so excited to channel these amazing artists I grew up with in anyway I can! But as a writer and as a girl who has strong convictions, I have at times had to be stubborn about what lyrics I am willing to write - no matter who it is that wants them. As well as Christina and Katherine, you've also worked with other big names like Adam Lambert on 'By The Rules'. What was it like working with such huge stars? Did they give you any insight into the business of making music in Hollywood? Also a great question...We are all learning together based on the little things we go through together. Whether it's a night out with Nicole Scherzinger trying to avoid the crazy paparazzi, or a night in the studio with Chris Brown listening to his new mixtape that he's so excited about, or going to Drake's house and finding out he's a gentleman, or having Christina sitting next to me singing my song into my ear, or talking to Adam about what's important to him over hotdogs on the 4th of July - we are all going through it together! I'm a little fish and they are big. I've mainly been a writer (which is epic), but I've spent time with these beautiful people and we are all learning from each other! Kanye once sat next to me and asked me all about New Zealand and The Lord of the Rings...so there you go! I've heard you're also great friends with Stan Walker, who you collaborated with on the album for another #1 single, 'Holding You'. How did you guys meet and what lead to your first song together? Stan is one of the greatest male vocalists in the world. I requested a duet with him because who wouldn't?! But also I had a song in mind. We met through friends and also properly through [the New Zealand version of] The X Factor. I was there performing 'Bones' and we had a legit deep encounter backstage that sparked the idea to record together. You also guest mentored for Stan on The X Factor, on a season which was plagued by controversy after Natalia Kills and Willy Moon's infamous blow-up during the first round of live shows. How did you react when you saw their actions on TV? Is there any possibility you might show up as a judge on the show in the future? I felt passionate about the episode where Natalia and Willy ripped him apart - and I posted that I would gladly take over the judges seat, and I would have - but I'm probably much too sweet for that job. I'm an encourager. I've read that the video for 'Holding You' was inspired by traditional Maori mythology. How important is your New Zealand heritage when it comes to your music and visuals? Very, but it depends on the song. I have lived away from New Zealand for so long and experienced the world. But make no mistake - New Zealand is the world to me. And yes, where I feel it appropriate I will express my love for my home. It inspires me daily. The album itself seems to have much more of an international sound, ranging from traditional pop (like 'Hello World') to smooth R&B jams (such as 'Put Ya Name On It', produced by the legendary producer Tricky Stewart) to ballads (like 'Love Strikes'). What inspired the sound for the album? I love pop, neo soul and R&B - to be honest, those are my favourite genres - and the album reflects that. I'm a 90s kid and I grew up prancing around to Michael and Destiny's Child and Usher and Erykah and Lauryn and D'angelo - but I love singing more than anything! So the album sounds like a million Ginny's singin' whatever the hell romantic idea she had goin' on at the time. The sound itself might be influenced by them. It must be such a relief for the world to finally be able to hear what you've been working on for the past few years! Now that you've accomplished what must have been such a huge goal, what are your plans for the future? Will you be touring for the album? Of course! My plan is to do it all. Some people discover who they are after a couple of albums and the right haircut; some after years of morphing in and out of being in a groups and being a solo singer and what not. Me? I didn't do shit until I was sure that I had something that I wanted to listen to more than I wanted to listen to Rihanna. And I finally do. So I know I've found 'me'. Let's go. Are there any last words you'd like to say to your fans? Dream big. Explore the world. Make a plan. Make decisions. Love yourself. And reach out to those that God gives you within reach. Try try try...And be creative! If you're trying to break into entertainment or art or music or food or architecture or graphic design or fashion or whatever, you better make sure you wake up dreaming bout that, work all day for it then fall asleep dreaming about it again - cause if you ain't then you are 99.999 steps behind the people who would die for it. Ginny, thank you so much for chatting with us today! We're all such huge fans of you and we're so proud that someone we've supported for so long is finally getting the recognition they deserve! Have an amazing day, and we hope to chat to you again when the second album's out! You're so welcome! Thank you for asking such beautiful questions. And as for how the interview compared to Loaded French Fries? If you ask me, it was well worth getting out of bed for. Our thanks to Ginny Blackmore, whose stellar debut album Over the Moon can be purchased on iTunes here. Check out her latest music video for the vibey 'Love Me Anyway' down below, and don't forget to let us know what you think in the comments section!
  6. YASSS, I'm so proud of her! A lot of people are saying Adele should have gotten the award, but lbr, she's only been in the public eye for the last month so she can't really be woman of the year. But Gaga has totally revitalised her entire career over the past twelve months and I really think she deserves all the recognition she's getting. On another note, I'm also super proud of my favourite new member @High Princess for writing this article so flawlessly. You did such a great job boo and I can't wait to read more of your articles!
  7. THE YELLOW POWER RANGER! When will your flop Hispanic fave? Neva! Becky Gesus breaking boundaries since her birth in 2003!
  8. Right? Like it's one thing to claim that you can't release an album because your producers are allegedly charging too much, but where's my t-shirt cunt?
  9. Here for this, especially that extended keyboard interlude. It's very Risky Business and I'm feeling the nostalgic vibes.
  10. International pop star, rom-com queen and now television's it girl: Jennifer Lopez seems to be capable of anything she puts her mind to! Following what will undoubtedly be a successful turn on the hyped-up last ever season of American Idol, and the debut of Shades of Blue, a cop drama in which she stars and executive produces, the 'Jenny From The Block' star is now rumoured to perform at next year's Super Bowl Halftime Show. Jenny's involvement in the show was teased earlier today, when an anonymous Soundcloud account leaked this picture of her in an advertisement for the project. While it would have been easy to Photoshop a promo image like that, the shot was also accompanied by a short soundbite of J. Lo (or an incredible impersonator) giving fans some good old fashioned football inspiration. "When it comes to the NFL, it doesn't matter how you start...It's how you finish," says the singer amidst what's presumably a montage of season highlights from the game. While there's no word on what the soundbite could be sourced from, it does sound likely that it was ripped directly from a television advertisement from the game. Prior to the news that J. Lo is performing, we previously heard tell earlier in the year that Britney Spears and Taylor Swift were the main contenders for the coveted role. However, with Britney extending her Vegas residency far into 2016 (which allegedly prohibits her from performing on any stage other than The Axis in Planet Hollywood), and Taylor planning an extended hiatus from music, it's possible that J. Lo was set up as the next best option. Coldplay and Maroon 5's names have also been attached to the position. If chosen, J. Lo will follow Katy Perry, who wowed last year with special guest stars Missy Elliott, Lenny Kravitz, and left shark. What do you think of the choice of J. Lo as the next Super Bowl performer? Will she do a good job, or should one of the male acts been given a chance? Should Britney have been allowed to make a comeback, or should Taylor have celebrated her dominance of 2015 with one epic performance? Let us know down below!
  11. Watch the video version of this article here: If you're not a fan of Britney Spears (otherwise inexplicably known as a member of the 'Britney Army') or a hissing Illuminati overlord, you may never have heard of 'Rebellion'. The little-known track was never released as a single, never performed live, and never received any critical response from anyone outside of the Britney fanbase. It's not much to listen to, right? And yet, since it was hinted at by Britney way back in 2006, it's been beyond doubt the most anticipated song for release in her back catalogue since that rumoured duet with Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake. Backed by questionable conspiracy theories regarding the Illuminati as well as certifiably true occurrences that happened during Spears' very public meltdown in early 2007, the song took on a life of it's own, standing in for a Britney on autopilot as a testament to her creativity and artistic integrity. But what lead to the song's initial creation and immense rise to popularity? Read on to find out more! 'Rebellion' was first teased way back in 2006 when Brit posted a short, fifty second snippet of the track on the main page of her website, accompanied by a very 2000's animation of the Princess of Pop transforming into a Bengal Tiger and a cacophony of roars. The snippet came just months after the announcement of Spears new album, intended at that time to be called The Original Doll (the title was a stab at labelmates The Pussycat Dolls), and the debut of what Britney was touting as the lead single without her label's permission, 'Mona Lisa'. Even though fans only heard a minute sample of what the track fully had to offer, it was clear that the song marked a new change of direction for Spears: 2003's masterpiece In The Zone may have introduced a mature, more emotionally in touch Britney, but 'Rebellion' explored the dark side of fame in a way that 'Lucky' had never done. Interestingly, the snippet wasn't the first time fans had heard lyrics to the same effect. Just months before, in May 2006, Britney had posted a poem on her website in a section called ‘Love B: Stream of Consciousness’. A personal diary, 'Love B' was a place for Brit's somewhat sentimental innermost thoughts to be shared with her fans: a typical entry in 2005 stated "Now that the chaos has subsided, I finally feel as though I have the control I've wanted over my own destiny". Titled ‘Remembrance of Who I Am’, the poem appeared beside Spears' diary entries only briefly before being pulled down only shortly after publication. The poem was accompanied by another message: "This is for everyone who thinks they know me..." Some of these lyrics did end up being used word for word in another unreleased Britney song. 'All That She Wants' was recorded in 2006 and leaked in 2008, and samples the Ace of Base song of the same name. But the lyrics regarding "voodoo" and being "fed" either poison or guilt have only been heard in 'Rebellion'. Here's where some snooping comes in. Using Wayback Machine, a website that allows you to view the contents of a website on a specific date, we can see that a full set of lyrics was actually uploaded to AZLyrics on the 24th of June, 2006, alongside an audio track that's no longer available. Looking at these lyrics, we can deduce that the snippet Britney posted was in fact of the second verse of the song, and that the first verse has remained unheard - almost. A low quality snippet of the song's opening can be heard in the following video of Spears cruising around Los Angeles in her car back in 2007, accompanied by boyfriend Isaac Cohen and listening to demos for her upcoming album Blackout. Songs on the tape also include 'State Of Grace', 'To Love Let Go' and 'Baby Boy', all of which leaked after the demo CD was found on eBay a few years ago; but 'Rebellion' has remained conspicuously unheard. Skip to 0:53 for the opening few moments of the track. Working on 'Rebellion' with Britney was three male collaborators: Christopher "Notes" Olsen (who had worked on Spears' husband's Kevin Federline's album Playing With Fire just months before), Scott Storch (who had remixed 'Me Against the Music' a few years prior) and Jeff Dandurand (a relative unknown). When interviewed about the track in 2013, Dandurand claimed that the song was "about the evil forces that pull the strings" and "very obscure in its presentation", going on to say that he and Spears had written lyrics to the track before Notes added melody and Storch polished the overall product. "People connect it with Iluminattis and this could be true," he added. Dandurand's opinion, however nonsensical, is one shared by a multitude of Spears fans. Perceiving 'Rebellion' as a cry for help, fans say that the track was Britney's attempt to expose the Illuminati cult that controlled Hollywood, and that it's failure to be heard represents a stifling of this effort by higher forces. Dandurand claims that he has attempted to purchase and release the track officially, even going so far as to state that he uploaded the entire song to YouTube at one point without fans noticing before being forced to take it down. Furthering this notion according to fans are Spears' increasingly robotic appearances following 2007, as well as the fact that Notes fell to his death in a casino in 2010 and that Storch embarked on a multi-million dollar cocaine binge that almost killed him in 2009. But despite fan thirst, we can't honestly say that we're sure that people would want to hear the full song at this point. Since 2007, a wealth of Blackout demos have leaked sporadically, such as the saccharine bounce 'Sugarfall' or the haunting ballad 'Untitled Lullabye'. Upon it's release, the album went down in history as the best in her catalogue, pushing boundaries sonically and sexually; but the songs on the demo CD that Britney jammed to in her car were all notably absent, as were any others that had been written by the singer herself. Instead, we got an album full of tracks such as 'Gimme More': a groundbreaking jam of a song which nevertheless disappoints when we consider how emotionally open Spears had been in earlier tracks. Amid rumours that Spears' team "destroyed" any copy of the track (one seemingly started by a disgruntled former RCA Records employee) and what fans see as a continued downward spiral in Spears personal life and music, 'Rebellion' could reveal something crucial about the most difficult period in Spears' life; or, even better, inspire her to try her hand at songwriting in the future. On the other hand, it's unlikely that any song released after almost a decade of hype will achieve everything that the fans expect of it. Judging by Spears' shaky vocals in the snippet and the outdated, clumsy R&B production, the song was in incredibly early demo stages when recorded: and even if Dandurand says that the track was remixed by Notes in 2009 and considered for release once more in that year, it's unlikely that any song Spears wrote in the lead up to her breakdown could be updated to align with her current situation. Perhaps it's better off that the full version of 'Rebellion' remains unreleased, and that fans are left only with a small, shaky snippet full of promise and intrigue: a clip unaffected by record labels or the general public which will remain forever as a lasting testament to Spears talent and identity even as the rest of the world turned on her.
  12. I completely agree! Chanel #3 and the ex sorority girl who's dating the main character's father are the only characters I really care about. Although I'd be surprised if they did kill off the main character.
  13. But the 'Pretty Girls' music video was one of her best since 'Womanizer' and that performance was hands down my favourite since 'Circus' promo. Um, legit I would be so here for this. Ready for the Plastic Chanteuse to come back with her self titled album and show Floponce how it's done! I forgot to even add Neon to the list. At this point I've given up on ever hearing a full length album from her.
  14. Rumour has it that they're planning on keeping certain cast members and spinning the show off onto Scream Queens: Summer Camp next season! Sounds interesting, I'd give it a watch.
  15. Still waiting for 'Me & My Girls' to be released as a single.
  16. I'm worried about that as well. Especially considering they're trying to introduce like three new characters and build up a relationship between Ant Man and all the other Avengers. I think the only way it will work is if it's a four hour movie.
  17. This article is a fucking mess. I mean, the source is Radar Online so I guess nothing they say can be seriously trusted, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did have one or two sex tapes floating around. He was completely out of his mind for a couple of years back there so it would make sense that someone would try and take advantage of that.
  18. At least it must be a comfort to Kesh to know that she has so many people's support tho.
  19. I like that he seems to be a large portion of the plotline this time! It will be interesting to see if they can balance that story with the civil war that's going on.
  20. Has anyone else been keeping up with this show like I have? It came out on Netflix last week and I've been slowly binge watching it along with the rest of the world! Honestly I can't say I'm as impressed as a lot of my friends seem to be though. The show is decent, but nothing special and definitely not as great as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or Agent Carter imo. I think a lot of that stems from poor scripting and pacing but I'm also really not sold on Ritter as Jones.
  21. I don't know why, but I'm stupidly excited for this movie. I probably shouldn't get my hopes up given how poor the last Avengers was, but the Russo Brothers did a great job with the last Captain America so hopefully they'll be able to ace this one as well! Excited to see Black Panther and Spiderman in action as well.
  22. We finally have the first trailer for season two! https://youtu.be/4TPGpoNGHPU I'm annoyed this is still two months away, I need more Peggy in my life now. The trailer's pretty intriguing, especially the character in the ice. If they managed to get Sebastian Stan from the Captain America movies in the show I would be super happy!
  23. I hope so, but even if it gained a million signatures I don't think her label would take any action. :(
  24. Exactly. People like you and I are feminists on the basis of morality and ethics rather than feminists who subscribe to a specific movement and are unable to see its flaws. That's why we're able to have unbiased and tolerant views while Rose gets caught up in petty little shit.
  25. Agreed with everything you said. Rose is one of those feminists who overly glorifies the movement, while ignoring all the shitty things that feminism has stood for in the past. Let's not forget that there's a large portion of radical feminists, including people like Germaine Greer, who believe that MTF trans people are men in wigs who are trying to "infiltrate" female spaces and take over the female population as a form of male ownership. If Rose wants to be considered as a friend to the trans community she needs to know her own history and not act like the feminist movement is entirely free of criticism.
