Caitlyn Jenner: Donald Trump is "For LGBT People"
Main Pop Girl commented on Main Pop Girl's article in News
I guess in a sense she is. But I think she's just looking at it practically instead of idealizing the situation. Obviously it would be great if we lived in a society where everyone was accepted regardless of their gender identity but I think we're still making baby steps. I agree she's ignorant when it comes to politics tho, but I think that she has more of a right to ignorance than others given her age. I actually agree with that as well. People can do whatever they want with their lives, but it's annoying when people say they're transitioning because they "feel like a woman" or something when everything that feminism has been doing for the past few decades is telling women that there's no way they should be feeling. -
I remember really wanting to play the first one when it came out but I never had the right console for it! The new one sounds promising but Imma wait for it to drop in price before I grab it.

Caitlyn Jenner: Donald Trump is "For LGBT People"
Main Pop Girl commented on Main Pop Girl's article in News
She said on Ellen that her stance on gay marriage had changed, and personally I'm willing to believe it given how much more time she's spent around the LGBT community. She's literally gone from being an icon of masculinity who probably didn't have a single gay friend like twenty years ago to being surrounded by trans people for most of her life (at least if her reality show is to be believed) so I don't think it's too far of a stretch to say that her opinion would have changed because of that. The other comment you brought up wasn't the one I was referring to, the one I was thinking of was when she said that "the most important thing about being a woman is the way you look". But in regards to the one you quoted, I honestly don't see how what she said was wrong? I don't think she was saying that what she's expressing is right or moral, I think she's just saying that it's a fact of life that trans people who are passable are gonna have a much easier time in society. For someone like her who's trying to ease more conservative people into accepting that community, I can see why it would be more important for her than for other people who are already in pretty liberal areas. -
I love the Bebe one! The Demi one has some great work on it but I don't really get the concept of the arm and what it's grabbing.

Caitlyn Jenner: Donald Trump is "For LGBT People"
Main Pop Girl commented on Main Pop Girl's article in News
Agreed with everything you've said about Trump, but Caitlyn's comments about marriage equality and physical appearance have been completely taken out of context. When it came to marriage equality, she said that she didn't used to believe in gay marriage, but that her opinions have changed. And whatever she said about a woman's priority being their physicality was clearly a joke. -

Iggy explains why she broke up with Nick

Poor girl. But tbh, she needs to learn to stop venting on Twitter and hire a therapist or something. Her Twitter rants are half the reason some people don't like her. -
If you thought that Caitlyn Jenner's recent revelation as a transgender woman would change her political views, you'll be sadly disproven by the reality TV stars latest interview with Sports Illustrated in which she not only publicly expressed her support for Donald Trump, but also indicated that he was apparently "very much behind" both females and the LGBT community. Jenner, who has come under enormous fire from liberal commentators regarding her staunchly Republican views, made the claim in a new article with Sports Illustrated for which she was the cover girl. Jenner began by condemning the reigning president Barack Obama for his management of the economy, a common claim among Republican naysayers; but she did say that things weren't all bad when it came to Obama's policies. “I’m not excited with what Obama has done to the economy, to our Constitution, all that kind of stuff. But as far as the transgender community, they’ve actually been very good.” She went on to explain her support for Trump, suggesting that he was a positive impact for the LGBT community. "Trump seems to be very much for women,” she explained. “He seems very much behind the LGBT community because of what happened in North Carolina with the bathroom issue. He backed the LGBT community.” Earlier this year, Jenner told an Australian radio show that she would be voting for whoever the Republican candidate was chosen to be, but admitted that she had a preference for Ted Cruz as leader. After Trump was announced as the Republican candidate officially, Jenner made a somewhat bizarre video in which she entered Trump Tower just to use the ladies bathroom, a presumed comment on North Carolina's transphobic bathroom bills. In March, she stated that Trump would be "very good" for women's issues and that she doesn't "think he's out there to destroy women or takes things away or do any of that kind of stuff", apparently neglecting the fact that Trump has previously called breastfeeding "disgusting" and is pro-life when it comes to abortion. Jenner has previously stated that she is discriminated against more because of her Republican preferences than because of her transgender identity. What do you think of her public support of Trump? Does it mean that she deserves the criticism, or should she be entitled to her opinion regardless of her gender identity?

'Body Say' is cute and all, but 'Good For You' is literally the sexiest song I've ever heard in my life. If you can listen to that and not wanna striptease for daddy you must be a saint.

But what I'm saying is no one should be excluded from the conversation to begin with. Allowing only a group of people to have a conversation about a certain thing, especially when it's something so silly as someone's gender, is inherently making it exclusive and it's also going to only allow for a very small and specific range of views. Obviously if someone's jumping in to try and discredit someone else's experience like what you're saying, or if someone's interrupting or belittling someone and not allowing them to finish their statement, that's just being a cunt. But as long as people are respectful of what others have to say, I see no reason why anyone can't speak in a conversation about rape regardless of their race, sexuality, gender or any other variable which we've decided is useful in labelling people. I guess for me what it comes down to is: if you're going to be an asshole, don't speak. But don't not speak because of something so silly as your gender expression.

I don't think that by discussing multiple sides of an issue you have to set aside certain times to do it tho. For example, in less than a paragraph in your last post you just discussed men being raped and women being raped, and the differences and similarities between them, incredibly eloquently! You didn't have to make one thread for us to exclusively discuss rape when it comes to women, and another thread for us to exclusively discuss rape when it comes to men. As you suggested, the two genders society accepts are so intrinsically interwoven and defined by each other that it would be impossible to do that. In this thread, we've had a discussion of rape that's pretty gender neutral and inclusive of everybody's opinion and story, but that still highlights the ways in which experiences differ. It's really not hard to do, and I think it's the best way of trying to dispel this strangely competitive battle of the sexes situation that's occurring when it comes to these kinds of issues. It's a way to understand difference while still appreciating that everyone is going through a similar struggle and no one is in it alone.

I actually completely disagree with what you said tbh. I think that when it comes to both gender and race relations in the present climate, we tend to have this very competitive atmosphere where we're setting up dichotomies against each other - male vs. female or black vs. white. Instead of having seperate discussions about issues that we're perceiving as seperate, I think it would be a lot more prudent to instead expand existing discussions and look at the issues that everyone is facing. Apart from minor physical differences, there is no difference between the emotional toll that a man faces when raped and a woman faces when raped - apart from maybe the societal influence which you discussed. If we could come together over the issues that both sides see as problematic, we would do a lot more good and make a lot more social change as opposed to if we just continue this pointless banter of "oh, my gender has it worse than yours because of a, b and c". We shouldn't think of the issue of rape as "female rape" vs "male rape", because that's always going to exclude people from the discussion. We should just look at the issue as rape. Rape is disgusting regardless of who it happens to and instead of specifying times to discuss specific genders, we should open the floor to males, females, and very importantly, everyone in between who would be ignored and silenced by discussions focusing on just one gender.
