    Miley Cyrus & Alicia Keys Join The Voice as Judges

    In a huge reveal for The Voice, the television show has today announced that controversial hitmaker Miley Cyrus and American sweetheart Alicia Keys will join the judging panel for the show's eleventh season later this year.

    Cyrus, who has just wrapped up a gig as key adviser on the show under Team Christina, announced the new position in a typically hysterical post on her Instagram, stating:

    And it wasn't long before Keys, who served as battle round advisor for former judge Pharrell back in season seven, announced her own arrival to the show through a statement released by her team to Billboard.

    Keys' new partnership with The Voice is practically a match made in reality TV heaven, arriving at the perfect time for both the show and the artist. Despite releasing a lead single in 2014, 'We Are Here', and confirming an album for release in 2015, Keys has been unable to land a follow up to 2013's Girl on Fire - although whether that has more to do with label drama or her pregnancy isn't clear. The new judging gig will no doubt revitalise her career and we can't see it doing anything to hurt her amiable persona either.

    On the other hand, Cyrus' addition to the panel is somewhat more unexpected. She's much younger than most of the thirty somethings on the panel, and her wild girl, stoner image is hardly consistent with the mature, laidback energies we've come to expect from the other judges. While she hasn't had huge commercial success since 2013's #Bangerz, she found critical acclaim with last year's Miley Cyrus and her Dead Petz, and her crazy antics make sure she's consistently in the news one way or another, which begs the question: why does she need the failed career rebooter that is The Voice?

    This judging panel shake-up is just the latest lineup in The Voice's long list of judges, with the show having gone through ten different judges since it's first season in 2011. The constantly rotating judging panel has often been pointed to as the reason for the shows success, as well as the caliber of artists chosen as judges - singers can join the show for a quick stint of one season, and then be replaced when the next season premiers later that year (the show is also known for its dual summer and winter seasons every year). In a first for The Voice, however, this will be the first time that the judging panel has more than one female on the show.

    I was actually wondering if she was having label drama which is why she's going on the show to begin with? It reminds me of when Kesha did Rising Star while the lawsuit with Dr. Luke was being placed. :/

    Honestly, I can't see them cancelling it. They're running two seasons per year and it's still doing pretty well in the ratings, with the potential to do even better now Idol is gone.

    I feel like it's always risky changing out the judges, although, I've never followed The Voice, so maybe it'll be better. The only show I ever followed was X-Factor, and that only lasted year. :cypher:

    Tbh, I've never followed The Voice either, but I will go back and watch the seasons Gwen was on! I think as long as they keep a few of the judges (in this case, Blake and Adam), they should be okay. It only gets messy when all the original judges are gone. :stretcher:

    True! Even with American Idol trying to get hype with the fabricated Mariah/Nicki beef.

    Can we expect a Miley/Xtina collabo? because if we get one Miley is the only new pop girl to feature the holy trinity of the 90's gays tbh Madonna, Britney & Xtina (I count Madonna cuz she is timeless)

    Christina won't even be on the show, so probably not. :stretcher: And live collabs don't count! So she's really only worked with Britney. :morning:

    So you are denying Britney's collabo with Michael when he literally blessed her? OKURRRRR

    Oh then why is Xtina on that photo tho? I don't follow the Voice.

    I'm pretty sure XTina is doing every second season of the show at this point, so she was on the latest season with Miley as a guest judge. But Alicia will be taking her place for the next season when she and Miley appear as official judges. ;)

    She is on good terms with her label. MCAHDP wasn't released under RCA. Don't know how the things look like between her and dr. Luke after she has shown support for Kesha, but I think she can do a total masterpiece with just the help of Pharrell and Mike Will. She does the Voice to stay relevant for the time when she's recording new album. Also she is paid 12 million for it which is really great in comparison with Britney X-factor 15 million. The truth is Miley as a key advisor gave the contestants better feedback than all of the judges during their The Voice careers. She is very talented and she knows what she's doing. Mark my words that Miley will make headlines with her The Voice judging :)

    I don't doubt that she'll make headlines, and she'll probably bring a newer younger audience to The Voice which is what they're hoping for. But I feel like she should have released a proper follow up to #Bangerz right now so Idk why she's focusing on this instead. :(

    Because she's still recording it. Doing TV shows is the best way to record an album peacefully without pressure and stay relevant. That's what Demi did, when she was a judge on X-factor :)

    Really? I feel like she doesn't need any help staying relevant, especially now she's back with Liam. And I think these kind of reality TV shows are really only useful for promo when the singer can debut their new single live on the show. :/

    now she has time to record new album, spend time with Liam and still earn 12 milli :)

    She does what she needs to do. She's very smart. Maybe she wants press to focus on something else than her and Liam together again, cause she wants to work things out with him

    Maybe. :/ Either way, I'll be tuning in! I'm happy to see her on TV again, even if it's not exactly in an acting role!
