I know it's been months but I'm still absolutely floored at the amount of time, energy and MONEY she put into re-releasing, re-recording and shooting videos and undertaking amazing photo shoots for Hot City. The way the whole thing came to life is just INSANE and I am so so grateful. After what felt like 10 years of screeching for her to release an album, she came through in such a big big way. I'm so grateful. Artists talk a lot about "loving" their fans but Bonnie truly truly truly came through with what was truly a labour of love for her fans. PLUS also to herself - doing justice to what always was an incredible, poptastic project that had no right being shelved or kept from her fans who loved it. So a big pat on the back for Bonnie, and for the fans who supported her throughout her career.12 points

Let me mirror something that I commented on another forum about my feelings hearing this album: how the hell did her then-label got all theses songs from her and thought there wasn't a hit on the record? Truly baffling. I completely understand why she was so heartbroken about shelving all of those songs.12 points
-
Can we also talk about how GOOD Bonnie’s voice sounds? Like she sounds basically the same on the released versions vs the demos that were recorded 10+ years ago. It’s kinda insane. I’m really impressed with how she’s preserved her voice.12 points

The album isn't even out in the US yet and I am absolutely floored how negative some of you have no qualms about being. Why do you have to have such negative HOT TAKES that you bring here to influence other people to not like a song before they have a chance to hear it? Why not sit with the album for awhile? I feel like since this forum is LITERALLY why this album exists (and considering the we know Bonnie is reading), we could focus on what we actually DO like from the album for literally one day omfg. I can't wait to listen.11 points

It's unreal. I've been keeping myself from replaying the singles (I have a silenced playlist on loop almost all day for streams) but I don't want to overplay the songs, and I'm DYING to hear it all together. I've been fucking smiling all day for this I swear. Bonnie, the absolute LEGEND that you are. Saving the pop music industry single-handed, we have to stan.11 points

there’s no official tracklist because the album was scrapped before it made it that far in the process. no photoshoot or title etc, only Bonnie’s concepts.11 points

Queen of giving us 4K visuals when major label artists can't even muster anything for us. Bonnie continues to understand.10 points

I know it must be a hard pill to swallow, being that she was writing all these #1 singles, but to hear her say that she doesn't care about chart position and wanted to put out this album for the fans, carries more weight than any artist thanking their fans. Recognizing all the money, effort, time, etc that Bonnie has put into getting Hot City out, and now finding all these interview opportunities herself to further promo the album, Bonnie really is the PHF Queen!9 points

BTW I better not see ANYBODY doom posting when the darker album era comes around! I hope everybody has learned their lesson. And no, Bonnie did not gaslight anybody, nor did she make faulty "promises," she said it would come and it did.9 points

Well girls, I’ve done something unhinged. I’ve filmed and edited a 40-minute video all about Hot City. It’s about the years when this album was announced, the departure from Epic, the in-between years, the drama on this thread, and the long anticipated release. I’m uploading on Friday, and I will share it with you lovely people once it’s up in case you want to take a trip down memory lane.9 points

We're basically 3 weeks away from this album and I want to share my happiness and gratitude for the whole release that's about to happen. I'm a huge fan of Bonnie and I'm a huge fan of early-2010s pop music, it is my favorite kind of music as it contains a special spark made of powerful synths and epic choruses that makes me want to dance whenever I listen to it. The release of Hot City is bringing so much joy to me due to both its epic sound and its meaning for Bonnie (and us). This whole journey makes me feel excited like a proper music fan, and the last time I felt this way happened in 2015 for CRJ's Emotion. This being said, I'm ready to support Bonnie in every way possible. C'MON EVERYBODY LET'S GOOOOOOO!9 points

The final version of Jenny is SO BONNIE while also breaking new sonic ground for her. It fits so well in the Hot City lore but appeals to a different part of the ear. This will represent a standout on the album and I think will age beautifully. And the video! As fun and goofy as it is sleek and sexy. (Some other artists who lean into quirk should take notes on this fine balance!) A perfect new level unlocked in the Bonnie-verse of 70s/80s-inspired visuals that feels like its been there the whole time. Also QUEER RIGHTS! Bonnie if you're reading this... You are NAILING IT. We've been right about you all along.9 points

I find it disheartening that she would honestly work with Luke. I know every rapper would sell out and do a song with him for a paycheck. She clearly noticed what Bonnie was doing and bringing back real pop music and decided she could do it better. However with that Horrid snippe, I have to disagree. She’s just gonna flop without Bonnie’s lyrics anyways. That’s what she does. Doesn’t Katy know she made this song already in 2013, called International Smile. It’s redundant at best. Just an opinion😅8 points

According to her Reddit's AMA she considers two options: - releasing a Hot City deluxe - putting some songs that didn't make to Hot City on BM3 (coming next year)8 points

she really hit it out of the park with this. so happy we finally have it8 points

I’m quite literally still obsessed with the new JGAB. Bonnie really breathed new life into that tired ass demo that leaked and I can’t help but love her even more for it.8 points

I know the public is arguing that 2024 is the year of Charli, Chappell & Sabrina, but 2024 is really the year of Bonnie. Let's be real.7 points

Considering how scarce were her releases after the Bombastic EP, I'm so grateful by how many things Bonnie has given us just this year: apart from the Hot City album, which was already a huge deal obviously, and would be enough to satisfy the fans, she also graced us with 2 more music videos, Rendezvous in partnership with Spotify, two EPs with additional versions of American Girl and Sleepwalker, and a tour (for those lucky enough to live in the United States). Not to mention the physical copies of Hot City. I really appreciate that, I hope she continues to be this prolific.7 points

Someone (I assume one of you) asked her about it and by her response I don't think she has any control over it, but one can always hope her team get in contact with the label to sort it out7 points

Bebe Rexha - All Your Fault, Pt. 3 EP (scrapped in favour of Expectations) While no official draft of the EP tracklist has been revealed, with the leak of The Little Things (one of the two only confirmed tracks intended) I wanted to search a little bit about this scrapped project. The only confirmed songs were The Little Things and Nothing at All, the latter being repurposed for Expectations and eventually scrapped again. Apparently, she teased Apple, Cry Wolf, Ferrari and Naughty to be possibly released, from which Ferrari ended up in Expectations and a demo of Naughty was released on SoundCloud. Apple had been previously cut from AYF2, and Cry Wolf is an outtake from I Don't Wanna Grow Up. So we have this potential songs list: The Little Things (confirmed) Nothing at All (confirmed, then repurposed for Expectations upon EP cancelation and scrapped again) Apple (possibly, previously cut from AYF2) Cry Wolf (possibly, previously cut from IDWGU) Ferrari (possibly, repurposed for Expectations upon EP cancelation) Naughty (possibly, released for free on SoundCloud) It's a weird list, I wonder which other AYF outtakes would've been in consideration for the third part (Bed, Death of Me, Fell in Love with a Stranger, Like a Baby, Take It Off, Rome Is Burning rework...)7 points

I spent most of today just listening to the Album on loud speakers, in the car, through headphones and wow.. This really is a Pop Bible. I can't believe we have a full Bonnie Project on our hands now. I really hope those who don't know of Bonnie yet and love Pop Music will wake up and give this masterpiece a chance. What a beautiful blend of Pop Music with its various sub-genres and always a catchy hook. Amazing.7 points

The way we all knew about Show You Mine (formerly known as Show Me Your Love) but we all just kinda wrote it off and there was never demand for it to leak or be released by Bonnie officially, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the album I'm glad there was this nice surprise at least, because the rest of the bops we all had listened to in full before. I envy the gays who will experience Everything But You, Forever 21, Rewind Your Heart and Electric Heaven for the first time on Spotify today. If released with major label investment behind it, and at the right time, this could have been one of those pop albums that put out several big hit singles, like Teenage Dream, Future Nostalgia, Love Angel Music Baby, The Dutchess, Rhythm Nation, Forever Your Girl, etc. We were robbed of an iconic era. I can imagine how Bonnie felt when the project was shelved.7 points

I'm listening now for the first time and currently onto "Forever 21" omg it's so good!!!!!!! Bonnie I am SCREAMING!!!!!!!!! YOU DID THIS BITCH!!!!!!!!! What a fucking legend to pay THIS MUCH JUSTICE and service to this legendary album that STUPID Epic records dared to question!!! It doesn't even matter if it would have or should have or could be a mega #1 smash, that's so not the god damn point. The point is - this is excellent pop music! These are amazing songs! They are timeless in the way that music and pop music will always be - the great pop songs "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" "Like a Virgin" "Dance with Somebody" don't age or ever become over because they have a soul. This whole album has a soul and has lived on for ten years now - which is god knows a lot more than some singles released by artists last month with a hiss and a roar, already forgotten. Congratulations Bonnie - you've worked so hard and I for one am incredibly grateful!7 points

Hey you guys!!! It's been 84 years since I've last logged on this thread and honestly, I'm still in a state of disbelief that the album is finally gonna be ours in less than two weeks? I think we all share the same feelings of joy and relief so this is beyond exciting to celebrate this incoming release after so many years! I remember singing up to this forum in 2013 (when it was still called Pop Hates F-Slur, if I remember correctly) right after the American Girl single dropped, and I was already hunting down for those unreleased songs back then. You can literally see that I was one of the first users to reply on here with all those tracklist ideas and theories so I was DEEP in the trenches for Miss Bonnie. The fact that 'Somebody's Gonna Get Hurt" won't be included on the album is a little bit upsetting but I can't be too ungrateful at this point. Anyways, I could keep on rambling but to be here almost 11 years later is such a full circle moment... I've had many dreams / nightmares throughout the years of receiving a physical copy of this album in the mail so she better drop those pre-order links ASAP!!!7 points

Who else is excited for the revamped Worst In Me? That 2009 demo has a ton of potential so I hope the new version is a sugar coated bop.7 points

Literally in a state of shock this is all happening. Bonnie is making my pop dreams come true!! God I remember how HARD I was stanning "American Girl" back in the day and then OBSESSING over the Bombastic EP and been clinging to hope all this time. Bonnie McKee fans won!! Also this entire era so far has been so incredible. "Jenny's Got A Boyfriend" is sooo good. The reworked song is amazing and the video is literally one of the most flawless videos ever, it's just SHOCKINGLY good. The Bonnie McKee retro colourful maximalist pop aesthetic is SOLELY dominated by her.7 points

I’m so happy she did CD’s… a lot of artist’s don’t care to nowadays, but they’re actually very profitable. It’s also so refreshing to own the music physically, and very stress-reducing. If something ever goes wrong with the distribution, I’ll always own the CD!6 points

Love Spell, Soundtrack to the End, Sexin U and Last Call Lover are a must! Sugar Rush would also be nice, and while Restless is not from those sessions, I think it could fit with the summer vibes as well 😎6 points

I love this interview! There's something to be said about how charismatic she is with her answers. These aren't rehearsed Q&As, they come off as completely genuine. Her love of the songs, her fans, her career! I also appreciate her diving into how expensive it is being an independent artist. Her ability to not shy away from questions or offer a half-baked glazed-over response. This is why we stan Bonnie!6 points

I love how she actually loves/likes the music she is writing and doesn't hide it, unlike other popstars who always try to diss or undermine their past work. Bonnie being (rightfully !!!!!!!) proud of her work wether thats the legacy she has or just Demos she recorded makes her so much more likable to me. She actually is THAT good and she knows it. Thats MY queen of pop!!!!6 points

I love that she isn't keeping things cryptic. It's so refreshing to get real direct answers!6 points

I just want to say that I'm so glad I found this forum all those years ago. I don't think it exists anymore but there was a clip on YouTube where Bonnie played a clip of SLAY's studio version for a Radio DJ back when she was touring with Karmen. I ripped that clip from YouTube and had it on my iPod. I knew it was something special. I lost all hope after a while and I didn't think I'd ever hear it. While it got messy here from time to time and there were many false starts, it's really incredible to see that we're here on album release day. This forum played a part in keeping the dream alive. Not only that but it's getting near-universal praise and is currently running up the iTunes charts (No. 4 on Pop and No. 18 on All Genres). Bonnie should be so proud. I know I'm proud of her. I hope everyone is enjoying this as much as I am. Cheers and happy listening!6 points

That Forum is full of grown, old, gay men who love to be misogynistic. They have the most ridiculous standards for female Popstars, especially independent ones like Bonnie. If something is not for them, instead of ignoring it, they always try to act like their subjective opinion is a fact and they're always mean and catty about it. No wonder so many Popstars leave Pop Music, its just toxic, if those are the kind of comments you have to read. If you're reading THIS Bonnie - you are loved, appreciated, you are an amazing Singer, Songwriter, Visual Artist and what you do and posses in terms of Talent is unmatched. We LOVE LOVE LOVE you!6 points

I truly believe she should push I Wanna Call You, especially now that she censored it. Truly a potential smash in her hands. Bonnie, if you're reading this: make TikToks of the bridge with an edited audio replacing the smartphone notification with Grindr's Anyway I'm genuinely excited for this album released and I haven't felt this way in years. Truly thankful to feel alive again from a music-fan point of view6 points
